Faith’s and Brooke’s Striped Hat

November 13, 2013

Faith and Brooke Striped Hat v2 This was my attempt to to enter the “My Mountain” contest by Schachenmayr.  Unfortunately, I did not get the pattern figured out in time, but I am happy with my design.  This is a hat with vertical stripes, done with slip stitches.  It is warm and cozy.  I have […]

Dots in Stripes Dishcloth

July 17, 2013

Dots in Stripes Dishcloth Yes, it’s another dishcloth.  My local yarn store, Yarn, hosts a dishcloth exchange called “The Monthly Dish.”  We meet at a restaurant, eat and drink, trade dishcloths, and generally have a good time.  I have been designing simple dishcloths for Shannon, the owner, to offer as classes.  This is July’s class.   Try […]

Team Spirit Fingerless Gloves

July 26, 2012

Team Spirit Fingerless Gloves I was looking for worsted weight fingerless gloves that I could make with a check stitch.  I was unsuccessful, so I made my own.  Mine are for the Chicago Bears and/or University of Illinois, but you can knit up your favorite team.  Great for chilly football nights!

I saw this idea in Essential Guide to Color Knitting Techniques, by Margaret Radcliffe.  Using 6 colors, […]

Christmas is coming faster than you think!

July 29, 2010

Candy Cane Baby Bib or Dishcloth Yes, I have one Christmas project done already.  This baby bib comes in 2 sizes (infant/toddler) with a snap-on strap.  (The buttons are just for show.)  If you don’t have a wee one to protect from spills, leave off the strap and it magically changes into a dishcloth. This […]

Embrace Your Inner Scot!

March 13, 2010

Plaid Felted Coasters I have embraced my one-eighth Scottish heritage, and I’ve become fascinated with plaid!  I made a plaid felted messenger bag for the 2010 Ravelympics, and these were actually my test swatches.  Everyone at my yarn store thought they would make cute coasters, so here they are.  You can make two sizes – […]

Here It Is — My First Pattern

March 2, 2010

Colors 101 scarf This is my first attempt at uploading a knitting pattern. I wrote it for a colorworks class I taught at my favorite LYS (local yarn store), Yarn in Hutchinson KS. I hope you enjoy it.
